Instagram engagement is one of the most important metrics to track if you want to be successful and reach new people.

The more Instagram engagement your content gets, the more people you are likely going to reach. And that results in more growth and sales.

You can do whatever you want, but nobody is going to engage with content that sucks. It’s impossible.

So, if you know that’s your problem, fixing your content is the first step you need to take. (And it might be the only step you need to take.)

Once you fix your content, your Instagram engagement can ROCKET overnight. But how to do that?

Well, first you need to make sure that your content is properly structured on the 3 pillars of content creation, and consistently take those pillars to the next level.

Here’s how they look like:

Value – your content must add value to your audience. Educate, entertain, or inspire and make sure you’re unique.

Presentation – if you’re going to present the message in a bad way (fluff, bad post design, unclear, etc.) it’s going to be impossible for you to get a lot of engagement.

Relevancy – always make the value point relevant to your audience’s needs, pains, and desires.

Once you do that your content is going to get more Instagram engagement than ever before.

But with that said, you also need to add fuel to the fire, show your content to more people, and make them want to engage. And the way you’re going to do that is by having a proper engagement strategy.

If you’re going to follow this strategy, your engagement is going to spike up immediately.

It’s going to take a little amount of work to complete every day, but it’s going to pay off in a form of massive results.

Find 15 Leading Accounts In Your Industry And Follow Them

All of the leading accounts have a few things in common. BIG engagement, and a huge following.

For example, if you’re a cook, one of the leading accounts in your industry is going to be Gordon Ramsay.

You want to choose 15 people like that, turn on post notifications and engage with their content once they post it.

Try to be the first person to do it as more people are going to see your comment and more people will come to engage with your profile in return (if you’re going to add value.)

Go To The Comment Section Of Every Account, Find Another 5 Decent Creators, Follow Them, And Become A Part Of Their Community

The next important part of this Instagram engagement strategy is finding other creators and becoming a part of their community.

To explain, how this is going to help you get more engagement on Instagram, I’m going to give you an example.

Do you have a favorite influencer that you’re following on Instagram?

It can be a business influencer like Grant Cardone or Tony Robbins or basically any other influencer that exists.

Have you ever read some of the comments on the posts they posted, seen a really good one, and wondered who the heck is the person that has written it?

Of course, you did. So, the first thing that you’ve done is that you checked their profile and if you really feel they are valuable, follow them, and engage with their content, right?

Everybody does it, all the time. And that’s because it’s natural. On social media we are social and Instagram is no different.

If you’re going to consistently engage with the influencers, people will start to wonder who the heck is the person that’s always adding some real value in the comments, and they will start to engage back with you.

And more than often, the influencers themselves will do it too.

That’s what I mean. You’re going to comment on new posts from all of these creators every day, for about 30 minutes or an hour, and you’ll become a part of their community.

Once you’re going to do that, you’ll realize that your own post engagement is going to increase as well.

But there are also some deadly engagement mistakes that you need to avoid if you want to be successful. So, let’s check them out…

Instagram Engagement Mistakes To Avoid

Now, when you have the kick-ass Instagram engagement strategy that’s going to increase your engagement on Instagram and you follow it, you might still realize that you don’t get your desired results.

Why? Because you’re making one of these mistakes. So, let’s look at them…

Spamming Comments

Spamming comments is one of the biggest mistakes that you can make.

This doesn’t necessarily mean using bots to spam the comments. You can actually be spamming comments by yourself.

For example, a classic spammy comment that doesn’t work looked like this, “Great post. Thanks for sharing.”

It doesn’t add any real value to anybody who reads it. That’s why even though you might share a hundred of them per minute, you’ll fail.

Instead, your comments have to be valuable and give actual feedback. The best performing comments that reach people and usually tell a story, give complex feedback, are funny or give some additional advice relevant to the post (explained in depth.)

When you do that, chances are that you’re going to be super successful.

Not Consuming The Post Before Commenting

This is directly related to the first Instagram engagement mistake. A lot of people just comment for the sake of commenting, not even consuming the post they comment on.

And that results in spammy comments.

The only way for you to actually get results with the Instagram engagement strategy that I shared with you is by consuming every post that you comment on.

That way the comment is going to be valuable and people will love it. But if the comment is not valuable, they will begin to hate you.

Remember that.

Not Engaging Consistently

Not engaging consistently is the best way to get frustrated and see no results from your engagement strategy

If you want to get results from engaging, the only way you can possibly do that is by simply doing it consistently.

Not when you feel like it. But every single day. The only way people will actually start coming to you is by seeing you every day.
