Something astonishing has happened in the Instagram content world…
As you’ve probably heard dozens of times, Adam Mosseri (the CEO of Instagram) has said that Instagram is no longer just a photo-sharing platform…
…and because the doofus said it, a huge conflict has ignited between Instagram content creators. It literally looks like an Instagram civil war.
The Instagram content creators on the left side say that videos are the only way to achieve some significant results and that traditional posting is dead.
The right side of Instagram content creators says that videos are good, but posts are ESSENTIAL for growth.
And that’s why today, I want to cover the topic more in-depth and clarify the whole thing once and for all.
So, let’s dive into it right away!
Is Video Content More Important Than Classic Instagram Posts?
Well, I have a quick answer and a long answer.
If you’re in a hurry, the quick one is – NO!
If you have some time, let’s check the long answer that is going to make it clear for you how it looks like with the Instagram content.
The fact is that videos are becoming more and more important on Instagram and that you should use them.
This era has begun when Instagram announced the feature called “reels”.
And because they want to beat TikTok in their own game, they started to promote reel content heavily, which means that creators were able to get a huge reach by using it.
And that’s why reels have exploded.

After that, a ton of Instagram content creators have stopped creating posts and they started to post just reels.
The problem with that is that your audience is divided into those who love reels and those who prefer posts.
I am the second one.
And that’s why I disagree with some BS like – create just reels and video content. Instagram is not YouTube.
Instagram has always been a photo-sharing platform, and because it is a core foundation of their whole brand, it is never going to change.
People on Instagram will love classic posts, they will still appear on places like hashtags or explore pages…and they will always get a ton of engagement.
Carousels remain on the top of the Instagram engagement ladder no matter how much Instagram has tried to promote reel content.
So, you shouldn’t be afraid if you are creating just image posts and you are afraid in front of a camera.
Classic image posts are not going anywhere.
I think that the real question should be, “How can I create Instagram content that is going to attract growth and sales?”
How To Use Instagram Video Content For Rapid Growth And Sales
Well, of course, I have to talk about reels. Reels are incredibly important for more growth and sales, and there is a simple reason for it.
They have a massive organic reach.
And creating them is something that everybody should do. The problem with that is that most creators still neglect it.
Honestly, I don’t know. Probably it is because they are afraid of stepping in front of a camera…
However, they don’t have to be in front of a camera. There are a ton of reel types that you can easily use without being on it…
You can leverage reels no matter the circumstances that you are in.
They are powerful, and you should use them.
The next type of video that you can create is IGTV. Those videos are as long as 59:99, and they can be easily reposted on other platforms like YouTube if you want.
IGTV videos help you connect with your audience in a better way than just by dancing in front of a camera, and what’s best is that you can include links in their description.
That results in one thing – they are freaking awesome when it comes to sales!
For example, you can create a webinar and then post it as an IGTV video, add a link to the landing page of the webinar funnel in the description, and then watch the sales rolling in!
It is a huge moneymaker!
And what’s best is that there is low competition as almost nobody is leveraging it…because the organic reach is low.
So, I urge you to leverage IGTV now!
However, when you understand that it is not about reaching new people, but about the audience – you will be able to make more sales than you can handle!
And last, there are just classic profile videos. These can be up to 60 seconds long and they act like a normal post.
No special benefits, nothing.
So, I would rather split the 60-second video into 2 reels that would get 100X higher reach and that would help you grow.
However, as I already said “classy” Instagram posts matter more than you could ever imagine.
And that is why I will cover them here as well…
How to Use Instagram “Post” Content For Rapid Growth And Sales
The whole Instagram has been build on normal posts and that is why they are never going to fall apart.
There are 2 main types of posts that you can use as your Instagram content – single-image posts and carousels.
And when Instagram has shown how they support creators, and how people with less than 1,000 followers are getting on the explore page, they are even more important…
I was able to grow by a few thousand followers just because of that in the past few weeks.
They are extremely powerful, and that is why you should leverage them.
First, there are single-image posts. Maybe you think that they are not useful anymore but that is damn wrong.
You should use them despite that a lot of “gurus” will tell you not to do it and use carousels instead. Why?
Single-image posts usually get a ton of hashtag reach, and they are also more likely going to rank on the explore page.
Both of these things are essential for growing your Instagram page and seeing some serious results.
However, there is one little thing that you have to pay attention to. The image is mainly used as a hook…the main value is delivered through the caption.
And that’s why you have to make them read it at all costs.
However, single-image posts usually get lower engagement than carousels. And for sure you can’t influence people in such a massive way as you can with carousels.
And that is why I love using carousels so much.
Carousels can have as many as 10 slides and you can include a ton of value in them. They are great for covering more complex topics and that is why people tend to engage with them more than with just classic single-image posts.
Remember that to make them swipe through the whole carousel you need to create a killer cover slide, create great designs, structure the content in the right way, and create a killer last slide telling them what is the next step.

If you’re reading up to this point, congratulations! You’ve learned some useful things, yet you don’t know what the hell you should post.
And that is why I want to show who has won the Instagram content civil war.
And the result is…IT DEPENDS!
“WTF, Filip? You told me that you will show me the result!”
Well, I did. Basically what you should do is leverage all of the content types that I shared with you before, but mainly it depends on your brand.
If your brand is based on videos…then go for it. If your brand is based on normal posts and no so much on the camera, then post a lot of classic posts and don’t stand too much in front of the camera.
It truly depends on you.
However, the announcement that Adam Mosseri has made, has no impact on how you should decide about what type of content to post.
People just turned one sentence into a total fad that you must be careful about.
