There is normally one basic rule on Instagram. The higher the engagement rate, the higher the chance that your content is going to reach new people, and the higher the chance that your content is great.
The problem is that only a few actually reach an engagement rate that is great. Sometimes it is happening because the content you share is not good enough, sometimes the behavior flow on the platform changes, and sometimes it’s something different.
And that’s why in today’s blog post, I am going to share with you the best tactics to boost your Instagram engagement rate and get great results.
So, are you ready to begin? If so, let’s dive in…
Ghost Followers: BIG WARNING
This is something that I need to get straight off the plate right away. Just because somebody is not double-tapping on your posts doesn’t mean that they don’t see the post and buy.
In fact, some of my loudest followers have never bought a thing from me, and those whom I’ve never seen before are buying like crazy.
And that is the thing. Your engagement has nothing to do with whether or not you’re going to be successful with monetization.
So, it’s a BIG NO to delete ghost followers. Most of them may be ghosts on Instagram, but they aren’t ghosts at the checkout.
So, you have to be careful.
Now, if it is an obvious spam bot, then you can delete them. However, never delete somebody just because they don’t engage with your content.
That’s why in this blog post, we are only going to focus on boosting your Instagram engagement rate ONLY by increasing the overall engagement.
Not deleting followers. That is deadly.
Alright, so let’s move on to what I actually mean…
Engage With Other People To Get Engagement
It is called social media because it is meant to be “social”. That means to get the engagement you need to engage with other people as well.
When you do, they will look at the comment that you made and what is going to happen is this:
“This is so amazing! I feel good because this person has commented and cheered me up. Plus the point he or she added is incredible. I will make an improvement based on it. Who the heck are they? I gotta check their page and their posts.”
Bingo! When this happens you get engagement.
Now, this is how a person who sees you for the first time is likely going to react if you write the right comments and you spend the time to engage with them. And obviously, when they check your posts they will engage with you too, and also follow you.
However, you also want to engage with your current followers.
They already know you and when you engage with them, they’ll feel something like a “heartwarming feeling” that you did.
And that will make them see what is new on your account and engage with your latest post.
It is an amazing way to increase your Instagram engagement rate and you definitely want to try it out.
But obviously, this is only going to work for you if you are willing to put in the time and effort. If you engage only 5 minutes per day and expect to get any significant results, then I’m here to tell you that you won’t.
It is that simple.
Alright, but now let’s move on to another tactic to boost your Instagram engagement rate…
Create Better Content
As I’ve already mentioned, the most common reason why your engagement rate is low is that your content sucks.
You have to create amazing content if you want to be successful and get massive engagement rate.
How are you going to do it?
Well, every great piece of content consists of 3 main things:
- Value
- Presentation
- Relevancy
Your content has to provide people with some sort of value. There are 3 basic value pillars that you can use for that: education, entertainment, and inspiration.
If your content does one of these things, it will be valuable to somebody.
Second, you need to present it well because if nobody is going to consume the value the post contains, they are not going to find it valuable and they will just move on.
Presentations include design, video quality, message simplicity, and on and on.
And last, there is relevancy.
Irrelevant value is NOT valuable. The thing that you share must be relevant to your target audience.
Try selling a steak to a vegan and you will find how valuable it will be to them. Or try showing a farmer who is 80 years old and milking cows showing how to play Fortnite and you will see how valuable he or she will feel it is.
If you want to boost your post engagement and overall Instagram engagement rate, then you must follow these 3 pillars at all costs. Otherwise, you are going to fail.
But now let’s move on to another way to boost your Instagram engagement rate…
Hop On Trends
Sometimes one of the best ways to boost your Instagram engagement rate is to ride the wave of trends!
Trending topics, content formats, etc. usually get lot of reach and in the end, get you some really incredible results.
So, whenever you see something new trending in your industry, consider jumping on that trend.
But be careful. The trend has to be aligned with your brand’s mission, you, and your dream customers.
For example, dancing on reels is and has been a trend for a long time, but if you are a business lawyer, then it can seriously hurt your reputation. As a business lawyer, you need to be able to handle pressure, not dance on reels.
That’s why you have to be careful.
Tell People To Engage With You
This is another really great way to boost your Instagram engagement and get incredible results, but a lot of people often neglect it.
People are not going to do something unless you tell them to do it or they MUST do it.
So, adding a simple call to action at the end of your caption or in your content is one of the most amazing ways to boost your engagement and get some great results.
For example, “Double Tap If You Found This Helpful.”
And of course, when you boost your engagement, you are also going to boost your Instagram engagement rate.
