Social media marketing is becoming more and more popular. And even though most people are aware of some of the benefits, not many have really stopped and asked themselves “How does social media marketing help businesses?”
And that’s why in this blog post you are going to find the answer. Here is an outline of what we’re going to talk about today:
- Building Relationships And Trust With Your Dream Customers
- No Barriers To Entry
- Advertising Opportunities
- Big Organic Reach
- Customer Support
- Networking
So, are you ready to begin? If so, let’s dive in…
Building Relationships And Trust With Your Dream Customers
One of the main ways how social media marketing helps businesses is by letting you build close relationships with your dream customers, earn their loyalty, and make them buy again and again.
That’s really hard to do through any other way except building it in person.
And that’s why social media marketing is so powerful. You can have real conversations, find out what your dream customers want to see, survey them, build relationships, and pre-frame them for whatever you are selling.
Also, it is powerful when it comes to building authority. It is really tough to build authority by telling people to buy your stuff through ads.
However, on social media, you are going to educate them and deliver real value. That’s going to make them feel like, “This guy knows what he’s talking about. I trust him (or her).”
Once you earn their trust, selling is going to be easy.
No Barriers To Entry
This is another reason why social media marketing is so popular nowadays, especially for those who are bootstrapping their way to top and have no money to begin with.
Social media marketing is FREE. You can work your way in and get exposure without spending a penny.
All you have to do is to join your desired social media platform, start publishing content, and figure out how to get in front of your dream customers.
And of course, you need to stay consistent over a long period of time.
Success on social media doesn’t happen overnight. It never did and it never will.
Show up every day, and get those dream customers.
Advertising Opportunities
Advertising on social media is a fantastic way to get new customers and it is another main way how social media marketing helps businesses.
Most of the ads on social media are heavily underpriced. And when you know how the create the right campaign, it is not that hard to be profitable.
But what is the best social media advertising strategy that you can use to get new customers?
I call it: qualify and sell.

It looks like this. First, you are going to show everybody in the cold audience (people who don’t know you and don’t even know they have a problem that your product or service solves) a content ad.
That ad is going to talk about the problem they have and educate them.
Whoever is going to watch it from the beginning to the end is going to enter the “warm” audience. Those are the potential customers that want to solve that problem.
Otherwise, why would they watch a video that educates them about it from the beginning to the very end, right? At best, they’d quit watching a few minutes into it.
Once they enter the warm audience then they are going to be served more of these content ads and also direct sales ads.
Direct sales ads are going to directly promote the product or service that you are trying to sell. It’s a simple pitch.
And once they buy, you are going to retarget them and promote another product or service. It’s a simple, yet extremely effective strategy and I highly recommend that you use it.
Big Organic Reach
Depending on the social media marketing platform that you are on (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, etc.), most of them have a great organic reach if you know what you are doing.

YouTube dominates it because the lifetime of a video shared is virtually endless.
That’s why social media is such a great way for businesses to get new customers and it helps them to grow.
You can literally reach millions of people and sell more stuff than you could ever dream of without spending a penny out of your pocket.
My favorite media to do that is Instagram. When you have the right content strategy and you do the right things, it’s not that hard to get in front of tens of thousands of your dream customers and grow your business there.
Remember that to reach people organically on the platform you need to share VALUABLE content and not promote.
This is a huge mistake people are making.
Sharing promotional stuff is not working on social media. Instead, your only goal is to attract people and somehow make them enter your sales process that is OFF platform and there you are going to sell them.
Not through your content, but through your sales process.
Also, you must not forget that social media is very personal media and that to truly build relationships with your dream customers you need to share behind-the-scenes, personal content as well.
Don’t forget to talk about your values, what you recently accomplished, and your backstory. It all matters.
Customer Support
This is especially trending now. And yes, it’s also a big way how social media marketing helps businesses as it is making it simpler and more efficient for them to handle customer support.
Many people don’t want to contact the company using phone or email because they are big-time introverts.
However, it doesn’t look like many people would struggle to contact it using social media.
In fact, almost everybody prefers it.
So, that’s why social media remains a fantastic way to connect with your dream customers and get great results.
Use it for this reason as well as it can be really beneficial.
Networking
This is a benefit that’s especially true when it comes to LinkedIn but it is a big one on every social media platform.
When you start to do social media marketing, you will realize that a lot people will start to contact you asking for different collaborations, to join your network, etc.
Besides the personal development side because you can use social media to construct something like a mastermind…
It is also extremely beneficial when it comes to business opportunities.
When you collaborate with influencers create content together or even make them your affiliates, it is going to make a tremendous impact on how many customers you get.
That’s something that would be really hard to do otherwise as you can’t really build the relationship you need with people to make it happen somewhere else but social media (of course I don’t count doing it in-person but that is almost impossible to do in such a scale like on social media.)
If there would be no other benefit, this in itself would be more than a great benefit to join.
