Social media marketing is one of the best ways to market your business on the Internet and make a ton of sales…
But even though you might think it’s easy, it’s not. You need to have the right strategy to win new followers.
And for sure as hell, you need it to win new customers. Getting followers is the easier part, making sales is the hard part.
That’s why in this blog post I’m going to show you how to do it and successfully use social media to do marketing on the Internet.
So, are you ready to begin? If so, let’s dive in.
Prepare The Right Strategy
If you want to win the game of social media and succeed with marketing on the Internet, then for sure you need the right strategy.
The right social media strategy consists of 6 parts:
- Reaching people
- Building a tribe
- Generating traffic and leads
- Turning traffic and leads into sales
- Following up
- Turning followers into promoters
Each of these parts is absolutely essential for your success on social media. Let’s take a look at all of them.
Reaching People
If you want to succeed with marketing on the Internet using social media, you must reach your dream customers.
That’s why you must ask yourself how are you going to do that.
Where are your dream customers? How are you going to reach them? Which features of the platform can you use to do that? And on and on.
You must know this more than well. Otherwise, you’re going to fail to grow and get new customers.
Building A Tribe
Having followers is good. Having a loyal following that trusts you is absolutely priceless.
And the only way you’re going to get it is by building a tribe. You must make your followers relate to your brand, build relationships with them, position yourself as an authority, and on and on.
Turn your following into a movement, and you’ll rock the world.
Generating Traffic And Leads
Look, if you’re not going to turn your following into traffic and leads for your sales funnel or people who come to your physical location, then you’re not going to make any sales.
You must be clear on what the process is going to look like. Of course, you’ll have to test and improve in the process if you want to win.
Turning Traffic And Leads Into Sales
This is the key turning point. You must have the right sales process in place to convert all of the leads and followers into sales.
If you’re not going to do that, then EVERYTHING you’ve done is pointless. That’s why you need to build the right social media sales funnel.
With the right funnel, you can easily quadruple the sales and revenue you make from every customer you get.
I show exactly what it is about in this FREE webclass.
Following Up
The main reason why almost every business leaves 80% of customers on the table is that they don’t follow up.
Make sure you get the contact information of your followers and ways to follow up using email.
Not that only you’ll have another channel of communication if something on the platform happens, but it’s also the only way to turn those who left the sales funnel without taking action into customers.
It’s essential for doing marketing on the Internet.
Turning Followers Into Promoters
This is the next level of marketing on the Internet using social media.
When they start to talk about you, or DIRECTLY promote you because you make them your affiliates, you’ll grow your business off-limits.
Figure out how to do it effectively and always do it.
When you structure your social media strategy around this, you’re going to get incredible results. However, there are many other things that you need to do.
Use The 80/20 Content Rule
This is one of the most important rules for being successful on social media. You MUST not overpromote.
However, you also need to make a lot of sales. And not promoting doesn’t go hand-to-hand with that, does it?
That’s exactly what this rule is about. It simply works like this:
- 80% of all content you share is nothing but a pure value
- 20% of content that you share is nothing but a pure promotion.
This way, you’re not going to lose followers because you overpromote, you’ll boost your sales, and you’ll also grow like crazy.
For example, if you share 10 posts per week then 8 of these posts will be nothing but pure value, and the next 2 posts will be promotional.
Of course in rare occasions, you can violate this rule, like launching a new product.
Otherwise, it should be your norm to follow this. But now, let’s move on to the next part of doing marketing on the internet using social media…
Paid Social Media Marketing
Most people go on social media marketing for the sake of growing organically, and that’s fine.
Bur missing out on the paid piece would be a big mistake. Ads on most social media platforms are heavily underpriced, and when you have the right sales funnels in place, it’s not that hard to be profitable.
However, how are you going to do it effectively?
Well, here are some of the most important social media advertising tips that you have to follow if you want to use them successfully for doing marketing online.
Target The Right People
Ads that target the wrong people automatically fail, regardless of the social media platform you’re trying to be on.
Here are some of the basic things you want to target especially carefully:
- Audience Demographics
- Audience Psychographics (What they like, dislike, hate, desire, etc.)
- Who they follow (For example, showing ads to only followers of Tony Robbins)
The better the targeting is going to be, the higher the chance you’re going to make sales.
Create The Ad Carefully
The way you’re going to create the ad is absolutely essential to determine whether or not you’re going to be successful or not.
I often recommend using the hook-story-offer framework from Russell Brunson.
First, the ad needs to have a hook. That can be an image, thumbnail of a video, headline, etc.
If the hook sucks and nobody is going to stop to look at the ad, you’re not going to get results no matter how hard you try.
The second thing is the story. In a social media ad this is usually a single sentence or two that increase the perceived value of the offer.
For example, “Imagine no longer spending hundreds of dollars every month for an electricity bill.”
A simple sentence, but showing them the outcome will make the offer way more desirable.
And the last thing is the offer. If you’re not going to present an irresistible offer that will give them a strong reason to click on the ad and get to your sales funnel, nobody will.
It’s that simple.
Always Retarget
What’s extremely important to understand is that most of the high-quality traffic that’s going to mean the most sales for you is not the audience that doesn’t know you.
It is the audience that has already engaged with your content, joined your email list, followed you, etc.
And retargeting them is another way of following up. 80% of the money is in retargeting.
So, always do it, regardless of the social media platform that you’re on.
