How To Do Social Media Marketing For Businesses

Social media marketing is one of the best for all businesses to get your business new customers.

It’s free, it’s one of the best ways to reach new people, and it’s the KEY to building a strong brand.

But how are you going to dominate the space?

That’s exactly what I’m going to show you in this blog post. So, are you ready to begin? If so, let’s dive in…

The Key To Social Media Success

If you want to be successful on social media, you must make a huge shift in your approach.

Instead of thinking like a marketer, you must think like a publisher with marketing intentions.

In other words, sharing “special discount” or “50% off” posts won’t work.

You MUST add value. Yes, there’s a space and time for promotion. However, adding value is what is going to make you successful.

But now if you’re in the information business or you are selling services, you may think, that if you share all of your secrets nobody is going to buy from you.

This false perception has already cost you a lot of sales. Not that only they will buy from you, but they will buy more than ever before.

And that’s because you will show your authority and that you know what you’re talking about.

Now, if you’re in the information business, you want to share more of what and less of how.

If you’re selling services then sharing information about the product or service you do, will position you as an authority in your industry.

And because those who buy services do it because they don’t want to do it themselves, it’s going to BOOST your sales, not decrease them as they will see you know what you’re doing and you’ll have more credibility.

So, yes it’s more than worth it.

Also sharing a ton of value is going to be the way you’re going to pay for exposure besides buying ads.

And it will be the main way you’re going to do it. So start CARING about your audience and add as much value as possible.

It’s the key to success with social media marketing.

Do Your Research

It’s absolutely essential that you do your research about everything that’s happening on the social media platform you want to do social media marketing on.

Here’s a list of the main things that you want to research:

  • Platform
  • Behavior Of People
  • Your Target Audience

In other words, you want to look at what other people are engaging with, what content performs the best, what features the platform you’re on has and how you can leverage them, what or who is performing the best on those features, etc.

The list of things is not small.

The research of the platform and the behavior of people is going to be done directly on the platform you want to be on.

The more data you’re going to get, the better.

But you also need to study your target audience as you’re going to create the content based on it. If you pick the right platform, they will already be there so it’s going to explode your reach.

It’s probably the most important thing, especially if you want to make a ton of sales.

So, never forget to do it.

Pick The Right Platform

If you want to do social media marketing for your business successfully, picking the right platform is going to be crucial.

You should do it based on your niche and where your target audience is. Also, it should be done based on the way you want to do social media marketing for your business.

If you want buying ads to be your main strategy, then Facebook is probably the best platform to be on.

If you want organic marketing to be your main strategy, then Facebook is the WORST place to be on.

And the same thing counts for every social media marketing platform. You have to do proper research and pick the right platform for your business.

If you fail to do that, regardless of the effort that you’re going to put in, it is going to be hard for you to get any success.

Create The Right Content Strategy

This is another super important thing that you will have to do if you want to be successful with doing social media marketing for your business.

Content is 80% of your success. If you’re going to fail to create the right content based on the right content strategy, you’re not going to be successful.

Your content strategy should be structured on what is performing on the platform, what your audience wants to see, what is best for your brand, what is going to help you make trust and sales, etc.

In other words, there are so many things that I am never going to be able to mention them all.

But here are the 3 main steps that you need to take to create the right social media marketing content strategy for your business.

Create Content Pillars

Content pillars are one of the most important things, especially considering that if you’re going to post about random things, you’re going to attract people that are not even your dream customers and will never buy.

So, what is it?

A content pillar is simply a topic that you are going to create content about. You can have more of them or you can have less of them.

But I highly recommend not going over 3. Make sure that every content pillar is relevant to your dream customer, to your brand, and to what you like.

For example, my content pillars are:

  • Social Media Marketing
  • Sales Funnels
  • Copywriting

Of course, you want your content pillars to be more niched down. The broader the topic, the harder it is going to be to make your voice heard. I recommend starting more niched and then scaling up if you want.

Show Up Every Day

Posting at least once a day, EVERY DAY is one of the most important thing that you have to do if you want to be successful and make a ton of sales.

Posting consistently and every day is the best and I’d say the only way to get attention of your dream customers consistently and build a brand that they are going to love.

You can even post more than once a day, but make sure that you are going to post.

Follow The 80/20 Content Rule

This is also extremely important as if you’re going to overpromote, nobody is going to follow you and, in fact, your following is going to shrink.

That’s why it is so extremely important that you’re going to create your content based on this.

  • 80% of all content that you are going to share is VALUE
  • 20% of all content that you are going to share can be PROMOTION

In other words, if you share 10 posts a week, then 8 of those posts should be valuable and 2 of them can be directly promotional.

Of course, you can make exceptions if you are running a promotional campaign, but they should be very rare.

Following this simple rule can take your social media marketing for business to the next level and you can be successful beyond every mean.
