To be successful with social media marketing you have to pick the right platform that’s going to let you promote your products and services effectively.
Sometimes if you pick the wrong platform, regardless of what you do, you’re going to struggle to grow, make sales or get any kind of results.
And that’s why in this blog post, I’m going to show you the top 5 social media marketing platforms that you want to be on.
But as a side note, if you’re just starting off you want to join just one social media marketing platform, master it, and then move on to the next one.
And because you’ll already have a following on one social media platform, it’s going to be easier for you to grow on the next one as you can do a cross-platform promotion and make those who follow you on, for example, LinkedIn follow you on Instagram as well…and the other way around.
So, pick just one platform, and once you’re successful there, expand.
So, are you ready to begin? If so, let’s dive in.

Instagram is my favorite social media marketing platform as the environment for marketing is absolutely amazing.
There are a lot of people, huge organic reach, big engagement rate, anybody can grow a following of tens of thousands of people, and anybody can be successful.
The only downside is that you can’t share links in your posts. But that doesn’t matter.
However, you might think that Instagram is just a photo-sharing app and because of that, there’s no place for you.
And that’s no longer true. Instagram has begun to highly focus on videos and they get a ton of reach. So, literally, anybody can get the results they want there.
Another great thing is that you can easily do influencer marketing for your brand and also the ads are HEAVILY underpriced.
So, it’s way easier to be profitable if you know what you’re doing. I highly recommend going on this platform if you want to successfully start and get massive results.

LinkedIn is another amazing social media marketing platform that you can use for your business. And it has two advantages that NO OTHER PLATFORM has even got close to.
First of all, it’s a B2B platform. And second of all, besides just getting new customers you can use it to hire people or do BIG DEALS.
That means if you’re going to be successful there, you can literally take off your brand to a whole new level. You can network with the top people in your industry as much as you can successfully drive traffic to your sales funnels and market your brand.
Another big part of why this platform is amazing is that it has a huge organic reach. When you make somebody engage with your post, then the post is going to be shown to his or her audience.
And voila! If you get a person with 100K followers like your post, you just went viral my friend. Ok, it might be a little harder than that but even this happens, literally in a few hours.
The platform also has features like the sales navigator virtually designed to reach out to people and generate leads…but it’s behind the paid door.
Yes, LinkedIn is probably the only major social media platform that has a paid subscription as an option.
Of course, you can use it for free with all of the normal features and without limitations. But if you want some topping on a cake like the sales navigator, then you’ll have to get LinkedIn Premium.
You’ll have to pay for it every month as you’d for any other service, but in my opinion, it is more than worth it.
I highly recommend going on LinkedIn if you’re in the B2B industry, and sometimes it’s more than worth it even if you’re in B2C. You must make the decision yourself.
But if you’re in B2B, this is the platform where deals are closed.

Twitter is another amazing social media platform. But before you get there understand one thing. It will be tough for you to get engagement there as well as you’ll have a harder time promoting your products or services effectively.
First, because you have only 240 characters to get the point through. Second, unless you’re Elon Musk, the average lifespan of content is just 30 minutes.
Yes, 30 minutes. Don’t expect your Tweets to do well after that time goes away unless the Tweet performs extraordinarily in the 30-minute window.
But besides that Twitter is amazing. It has massive reach (even if you have 1,000 followers you can reach hundreds of thousands of people every month).
But it’s tougher to make people take action as they are flooded with posts that ask them to do something. So, unless you know how to hook people’s attention in 240 characters you’re not likely going to do good.
However, if you can, you’ll be winning there. My personal opinion is that Twitter should be left as a second or third platform to join, not the first because of these things.
Regardless of that, one thing is for sure. You should be on this social media marketing platform sooner or later.
TikTok

TikTok is an awesome social media marketing platform for several reasons.
First, the reach is UNBELIEVABLE. If you post there consistently, it’s not tough to reach hundreds of thousands of people regardless of who you are or what you do.
And when I say hundreds of thousands of people with a single video, I mean that. It is more than possible if you stay consistent and do things the right way.
But a big disadvantage in my opinion is the audience. TikTok mainly consists of millennials, and if you’re selling products or services that are for an older age group, then it’s such a big red flag that you should consider not going there.
Reaching a ton of people is nice and makes you feel good. But if you reach the wrong people it won’t have any impact on the sales you make.
Also, doing influencer marketing is a bit tougher there. But I believe that the platform is worth a try.
If your target audience age ranges from 0-to-35, and you know based on your dream customer avatar that the people you want to get as dream customers are there, then this social media marketing platform is a place you should be on.
You can get unbelievable results in a short period of time.
