Instagram shadowban is something that I was against for a long time…
…but it doesn’t mean what you think. You’re not really “banned”. The only problem is your account starts to see a huge decrease in reach, growth, and engagement.
Sometimes you also disappear from the search and it’s gonna cost you growth.
And that’s why in today’s article I’m going to share with you what is Instagram shadowban and how to avoid it.
So, are you ready to begin? If so, let’s dive in…
What’s Instagram Shadowban And What Does It Do?
An Instagram shadowban refers to the platform limiting your content reach by restricting visibility because you violated the terms or community guidelines in some way.
For example, if you comment too much, you’re going to see this message and also get an Instagram shadowban that drastically lowers your reach and doesn’t let you post content with captions.

If you want growth and success on Instagram you need to avoid getting shadowbanned at all costs.
However, if you’re going to be shadowbanned, I’m also going to show you how to get rid of it in this blog post.
But first things first…
How To Avoid Instagram Shadowban
Well, first and foremost you want to read the community guidelines and keep track of what works, what doesn’t, what you should do, and what you shouldn’t.
The best example that I can share with you is again, over-commenting. Instagram has certain limits for commenting, and if you’re going to go past them, you’re going to get restricted and shadowbanned as a result.
Why? Because Instagram wants to protect its community from spam and this is the kind of action they take.
It’s the same if you, for example, share a post with something that violates community guidelines. Sometimes your post is taken down even if you use a banned hashtag or you, for example, talk about something or promote something that’s not allowed on Instagram.
Not only your post is going to be taken down, but you’ll get an Instagram shadowban for weeks as a result.
And that’s going to kill your results.
So, what you want to do is to consistently check what you can and can’t do…and if you got an Instagram shadowban before, check what you’ve done wrong and make sure you don’t repeat it.
If you go to settings and you search for “support requests” and “account status” you can get some really useful info that might help you as well.

Check it out frequently to ensure everything is right.
How To Get Rid Of Instagram Shadowban
Now, when you know how to prevent Instagram shadowban, you also should know what to do when you already have it.
And you might not want to hear this, but you should take a little break.
Taking a little break is gonna give the algorithm a signal that you’re not a spammer or that you’re not doing anything bad (if you get restricted because of commenting.)
If your post got deleted, then you don’t have to do anything, except keep on posting and ensuring it’s not gonna happen again.
You’ll get lower reach, but that doesn’t matter because the causes of not showing up are way worse.
