The Worst Instagram Lead Generation Mistakes You MUST Avoid

Instagram is an amazing social media platform to effectively generate leads. there’s no barrier to entry and anybody can do it.

The only problem is that most people do it wrong.

And that’s why in this amazing article, I’m going to show you the worst Instagram lead generation mistakes that you must avoid at all costs.

So, are you ready? If so, let’s dive in…

Not Ofering A Lead Magnet

Not offering a lead magnet is a rookie mistake but also one of the worst mistakes that you can make.

If you want somebody to become your lead, the bad way to do it is just to share a series of posts telling him or her to do so.

The best way to do it is to offer them something FREE in exchange of them giving you contact information, or other action that you consider key for lead generation in your company.

But what are some great lead magnets that you can offer on Instagram? To be clear, there are hundreds of them. But here are the ones that have been working the best for me:

  • Webinars
  • Bundles (combine a lot of things together)
  • E-books
  • Articles
  • Training Videos

However, no matter what you’re going to give them in exchange, make sure it is super valuable.

The more value you offer in exchange for the contact information (or the thing that you need), the more leads you’ll get.

Not Building Authority

One of the essential things to understand if you want to win with Instagram lead generation is that people want to do business with authorities, not just another person or brand.

However, building authority on Instagram goes far beyond just sharing how long you have been in your industry, etc.

In fact, that is going to kill the number of leads you are going to get, not improve it.

Instead, you want to build authority through your content.

And that can be done in just 2 ways.

First, you must give them as much value in your content as possible. The more value they get and the more your tips work, the more they will trust you and perceive you as an authority.

Second, you must get personal and become a storyteller.

An integral part of building your authority is becoming relatable and credible. People are not going to become your leads on Instagram if you don’t show the other side of your business. The behind-the-scenes side. The side that makes you a brand, not just another business.

You want to tell a lot of stories and always talk about your background or what you have been through.

When you post content like this, chances are you are going to win.

Posting Commonsense Content

Commonsense content is one of the worst things that you can share if you want to generate new leads.

It just doesn’t work.

If you want to get new leads, make people interested in your products and services, and trust you, you must be unique.

Unique content is also one of the most important things when it comes to growing your following.

DON’T neglect this step.

Not Caring About Your Audience

The biggest mistake is not in the tactics and strategies that you use, but it is in your head. If you want to successfully generate new leads on Instagram, you have to CARE.

If you don’t care about your audience, everything is going to be weak. Your content is not going to attract new people. They won’t care about your lead magnet. And for sure they won’t give you their contact information.

Why? Because not caring is going to reflect in everything you do.

Content that sucks and doesn’t generate leads on Instagram is created by people who don’t care about their audience enough, so it looks half-assed.

Lead magnets of 0 interest to anybody are created by people who have ZERO interest in their followers. If you really care, it’s never going to happen.

So, switch your mindset from taking to giving. It’s ridiculous, but every time you do it, it seems that you INSTANTLY get rewarded in form of new leads and sales.
